This poor fish sure has been through the wringer!

But even in death, it retains a striking presence and personality.

While the long shadow from the dipping autumn sun helps, there’s also something intrinsic to this creature that I find attractively haunting.

A memorable end to a relaxing beach walk with my wife (who spotted this fish and was very patient as I shot it).

  1. Poor ickle fishy. Although only its mother could love it. (And I hope it doesn’t get too prickly about that comment.) Remember your compositional rule of thirds, Paul. I would have liked to see the horizon line in this one. That said, great stuff, except perhaps for the fish. 🙂

    • Many thanks for your advice, Ad. I was distracted trying to capture the inrushing waves, which kept rolling my subject out of frame. Great point about rule of thirds. A horizontal horizon would have been plus too. I value your feedback very highly, so please keep it coming! Best regards, P. 🙂
